A dear friend who lives in a depth of appreciation for life that inspires me greatly was describing what it was like as a child for him at Christmas time.  Staring at the presents under the tree, wondering which ones were for him, longing to open them, bursting with excitement as he anticipated Christmas morning when he could finally unwrap the gifts with his name on them ripping them open feverishly to see what was inside.  His story took me into the moment, the energy of enthusiasm, palpable joy that began long before he actually got to see what was inside.

This mirrors a magical way of unwrapping presents, the abundance of gifts that lie in each day, every single day of our lives.  We don’t know what they will be and this doesn’t even matter.  What matters most is KNOWING the gifts are ever-present, moment by moment and claiming them, appreciating them, showing up to receive them and expecting MORE, MORE, MORE! because life ever-flowing is limitless.  Unlike that dull feeling that washes over following the high of Christmas day, our excitement for living, unwrapping presents – not waiting, not delaying our joy creates a magical life filled with the enchantment of the Christmas season.  This season of great love and wonder is truly possible to carry within your heart all your days come what may.  YOU CHOOSE! This is the good news and the bad news:  You get to choose!  In knowing you get to choose a life of where you unwrap the gifts presented all day or NOT, you are taking responsibility for your unique experience of life.
