Saying I love you! feels so good connecting to others heart to heart, expressing freely how I feel, wanting them to know right here and right now the truth.  I worry not if they say it back or feel the same way.  I just say what I mean and mean what I say.  The power of saying I love you! cannot be measured for knowing we are loved enriches us and enlivens us at the level of mind, body, heart and soul.  We often think of love in terms of romantic love that is special or personal but the vibration of love regardless of how we attempt to define it truly clears all obstacles, moving mountains and parting seas within us.  Love creates miracles.  Love is the healer.  Love is our greatest offering.

I recently told the story to a couple of friends about the love letter John wrote me hours before his quintuple bypass surgery.  He wanted to make sure that I he left nothing unsaid in case he didn’t make it.  He wanted me to know without a doubt putting it down on paper that I am loved.  This love letter written 4 years before he actually died along with the hundreds he wrote me over our 17 years together are truly treasures and still make we weep in awe and gratitude.  I read this letter at the beginning of his funeral which set the tone in celebrating his life and gave all a glimpse into us and the love we were privileged to share that changed both of us profoundly.

Dear Gee (my nickname for you and all that I love you with, my heart and soul),

 

I just wanted you to know that if things went wrong, you had my heart from the moment we met for all these years.  I wish for you to live a wonderful and happy life no matter the outcome of this chapter in our life.  I am to the very end so grateful for the love and time that you have given me.  These years with you have been the most wonderful of my life because of you.  I just wanted to make sure that I thanked you from the bottom of my heart.  You were truly loved as long as I was here on earth, and I will love you the same when I am gone, this spirit of love for you will never die.

P.s. If things should go great, then to hell with all that shit I wrote above and let’s get back to living life every day like it’s our last.
