Years ago, a friend returning from Thailand where she studied massage for several weeks shared that her favorite thing about her time there immersed in the culture was that people asked her: How is YOUR Heart? which invited her to drop into her heart and tune in to where she was at various points in the day.  This helped her become conscious when she was feeling heavy, over-burdened, overwhelmed holding her breath anxious and fraught with worry, doubt and fear.  And she became aware of how it felt when her heart was wide open and light, believing in the beauty of life soaking up the goodness and the joy ever-present, always there within us.  This practice stayed with her long after she arrived back home understanding how essential it is to listen to our heart as it is beyond sentimental; it is wise, fierce and speaks the Truth if we dare to let it guide us, free us, unlock more love longing to express right here, right now.

I can remember asking my mom as she laid there with her body broken unable to do all that she used to enjoy, all that longed to do:  How is YOUR Heart today?  She immediately smiled just from the asking and lit up giggling quietly.  Her grin crooked, her face slanted from the neurological disorder with every line in her face carved deeply from years of pain, she was magnificent!  Her heart revealed the beauty even in the midst of unbearable struggle where she wished her life to end.  I sat with her basking in her light – always there even in her brokenness.  This tender moment lives within me still; the power of love, the heart’s greatest gift revealed pouring from her to me to the whole of the world.

The invitation this day is to check in with your Self all day long asking:  How is my heart?  When it is heavy with worry, doubt and fear, let it go! Trust that the answers come living open centered within our Self, tuned in.  Make space by breathing into your heart, smiling within your Self freeing the joy that is ever-present springing from you, reminding you to believe in the beauty of your life, the miracle you are, the magic that you live breath by breath.  Choose to cultivate your heart – a divine instrument, pure LOVE embodied with immeasurable power to heal us, to lead us home to the Truth of us and to free our spirit to sing and clap and dance no matter the circumstances we are facing.  Tend to your Self compassionately, kindly and gently letting go of judgment, criticism, perfectionism that strips your love of Self, your love of life.  Find your way again and again and again all day long, all life-long to the well of love within your very heart and drink from this cup that nourishes us like nothing else.  Living a heart-based life, we shower the world with our sacred heart lighting the way for all to return home.
